Our Service Projects

Optimists come from every religious, ethnic and economic background. Each has various levels of professional and personal skills. We share one common goal: we want to help improve the lives of children in our community.

Senior Softball League

In 2012 The Club founded the Preble Optimist Senior Softball League. This is a girl’s recreational league that is open to girls from grades 7 through 11. We currently have 52 ball players in the league. There are fees associated with the league, but we see to it that no one is turned away due to lack of income. This is a fun and team building experience for these girls and they get to play against various teams around the city.

A Night at Bay Beach for Special Students

For one evening at the end of the summer Bay Beach Amusement Park becomes a park for the exclusive use of students with disabilities and their families. The park is closed to other users so these folks can enjoy the rides without all the usual commotion found at Bay Beach. It makes it so much easier for people to get around with wheel chairs or walkers. Many parents tell us that they just can’t bring their autistic children to the park on a normal day of operation because there is just too much stimulation for them. This event gives them [...]

“As a grandma of a special needs little girl, I would like thank the Green Bay Preble Optimist Club for opening up their hearts and Bay Beach Amusement Park for the special needs community in the Green Bay area tonight. Little Gracie and her family sure had a lot of fun.... and there were NO lines for the train. Can't get better than that!!”
